Robert Leon Acker, 68, of Loganville, Georgia, died September 10, 2014.

He was born October 1, 1945 in Wadsworth to the late Clarence and Lois Acker (Long).

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela; brother Bruce (Julie) Acker and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Bob graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1964 and then proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After the Navy, Bob began his career in the railroad industry, starting out at Norfolk & Western, then he worked for Erie Lackawana and ConRail before moving to Norfolk & Southern Rwy. where he retired in 2005. Bob was a volunteer fireman and EMT-A for 36 years and was actively involved in Highlands A.R.P. Church in Grayson, Georgia, American Legion, S.A.L., GA and Gwinnett Woodworkers Associations, Gwinnett Woodturners, Leader in Boy Scouts of America, Navy SeaBee Veterans Association, P&O Rod & Gun Club, N.R.A. and American Hunting Club.

Pastor John Mills will conduct graveside service TODAY, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 9:30 am at Woodlawn Cemetery, where Wadsworth Honor Guard will render military honors. Memorials may be made to Highlands A.R.P. Church, P.O. Box 847, Grayson, GA 30017.
