Carol Ruth Fletcher Adams, aged 87, formerly of Berea, now of Wadsworth Ohio,
went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2017, following several years of declining
health. She was born May 25, 1930 and grew up in Oswego, New York. She was the
last surviving of eight siblings born to Kenneth Corwin Fletcher and Ethel Mae Boyle
Fletcher. She was married 63 years to her dear husband Leigh Edward Adams who
earlier went to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2015. She is survived by her 5 children: John
of Cleveland, NY; Jeffrey of Augusta, Ga; Thomas of Wadsworth, Ohio; Roger of
Rome, NY, and Julie Lahiri of Burlington, Vt.; their spouses and by 13 beloved
grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Carol graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1951 with a B.S.
in education, and taught 6th grade in Monticello and Liverpool, NY; and Brook Park
and Elyria, Ohio where she variously taught junior high English, French and Spanish.
She and her husband, Leigh, were missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions of
Cleveland, Ohio, from 1958 to 1994. They served as church planters in Québec,
Canada from 1960-1970, and as campus workers in Central New York with Campus
Bible Fellowship from 1970-1974. Carol has been a member of Berea Baptist
Church, Berea, Ohio since 1974. In more recent years she attended Norton Baptist
Church. Viewing will be held at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 North Lyman Street,
Wadsworth, Ohio on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held
there as well on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be directed to the Baptist Mid-Missions’ World Relief Fund, Box 308011, Cleveland, OH 44130-8011.
