William L. Anshutz, 80, of Wadsworth, passed away December 27, 2011 following a brief illness. He was born on June 22, 1931 in Creston to the late Russell and Jennie Anshutz. He was a graduate of Norwayne (Creston) High School Class of 1949 and Kent State University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, was a member of Wadsworth VFW Post #1089, American Legion Post #170, Wadsworth Moose Lodge and the Wadsworth Eagles Areie #2117. After College he started a career in sales and the became a business owner and continued that legacy for 48 years.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Norma (nee Benefit) Anshutz on September 4, 2009, his step granddaughter Eliana Kendall and sister Jean Bricker.
He is survived by his children: Steve and Pam Anshutz of Seville, Sandy and Blane Matheney of Florida, Jennie Cottrill of Wadsworth and Scott Anshutz of Wadsworth. There are five grandchildren: Joe Matheney, Todd Anshutz, Jeff Matheney, Alex and Bobbie Cottrill, three step grandchildren, one great grandson Jordan Matheney, two step great grandchildren, his brother and sister in law John “Bud” and Cricket Anshutz, and special friends Sue and Steve Sturgess along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 5-8 PM Monday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home,174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 AM Tuesday at Creston Presbyterian Church, 13070 Cleveland Rd. Creston, OH 44217 with Rev. Alice Phillips officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Anshutz Family.
