Obituary
Charles T. Arnold, 85, passed away on September 8, 2012. Charles was born January 4, 1927, in Owego, NY, the son of Roy B. and Veva (Johnson) Arnold. He was a resident of Akron for 43 years, and the last 12 years lived in Wadsworth, OH. Charles was a World War II veteran, in the U.S. Navy and was an original plank owner serving aboard the Destroyer Tender, the USS Yosemite AD19 in the Pacific fleet. He also spent 4 years with the U.S. Army in the Corp of Engineers. Charles was a retired long distance driver for Roadway Express with over 32 yrs of service, achieving over 3 million miles safe driving. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Kupka) Arnold; and father of Kathleen (Gary) Roberts and Susan (James) Kiel. He leaves behind grandchildren, John (Juliann) Roberts, Mark Roberts, Margaret (John) Kiel-Morse, Brian Kiel, and three great grandchildren, Charles, Clare and Benedict Roberts; sisters, Louise Eaton Buckland, and Beverly J. Pappe; first cousin, Nola Arnold McDonald; and many Kupka family members. He was a life time member of VFW Firestone Post 3383; USS Yosemite Association; Jednota Lodge 553; retired Teamster of Local 24. The family wishes to thank Dr. Loretta Roach Isada and the Akron General Medical ICU for their special care. Mass of Christian burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 260 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281 on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Father Joseph L. Labak officiating. There will be a private interment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Wadsworth, OH and St. Labre Indian School Ashland MT.
