Shirley Jane Auxter (Burwell) finished her earthly race, ran across the finish line into God’s arms. She passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Born October 16, 1927 to Ruben and Ida Mae Burwell. Shirley married Donald Paul Auxter on July 10, 1948. Don preceded her in death on January 27, 1997.

Shirley and Don moved to Seville, where she opened her own beauty shop. Her customers became dedicated to her. most having weekly appointments. In 1972 she closed the beauty shop and became “post mistress” at the Seville post office, retiring in 1986.

Don and Shirley raised a family in Seville; a daughter Pam (Larry) Douglas of Wadsworth and Steve (Donna) of Solon.

Shirley had four grandchildren; Brett (Angela) Douglas of New Albany; Matt (Meredith) Douglas of Ottawa Hills; Nick and Sarah Auxter of Brecksville. Shirley was extremely proud of her great-grandchildren, Ella, Trace, Jay and Finn Douglas; Ben and Will Douglas and Ja’Zariah Auxter.

She was a faithful member of the Seville United Methodist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, junior Choir Director, singing in the adult choir, and a Trustee. She was also involved in the Seville Historical Society and Seville Dandelion.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Seville Historical Society or the Seville United Methodist Church. Shirley’s family would like to thank the Village of St. Edwards and the Sanctuary of Wadsworth for such wonderful care and love over the past five years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00am at Seville United Methodist Church, 74 West Main St, Seville, OH 44273, where a service will be held at 11am. Interment to follow at Mound Hill Cemetery.
