David William “Bill” Bettiker, 82, formerly of Medina, more recently of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was born on March 18, 1930 in Fowler, OH to the late Lloyd and Ruth Bettiker. Mr. Bettiker was a graduate of Fowler High School and Bowling Green State University. He was retired from Ohio Edison – First Energy after 30 years of service and was a former shop teacher of Madison High School in Mansfield. Bill was known for being very talented using his hands and tools and was an accomplished woodworker.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life Donna with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage, one son Dave Bettiker and one sister Penny Brown.
Bill is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Rick Schalabba of North Royalton, Genita and Jim Male of Gahanna, OH, two grandchildren: James and Elizabeth Male, two brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Sally Bettiker, Kim and Janet Bettiker, one sister and brother-in-law Ruth Anne and Jack Rhine all of Cortland, OH along with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, with The Rev. T. Richard Marcis Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends three hours prior to services from 4-7PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
