Donald Eugene Boyer of Wadsworth passed away Monday, September 17, 2012. Born December 30, 1920 to the late Rufus and Alice Boyer. He was a member of First Christian Church, retired after 30 years of service as a rural mail carrier and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1938. Mr. Boyer served in the U.S. Army (1942-1946) in the South Pacific area. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his son Richard Boyer, Sr. and brothers; Herman and Russell Boyer. Donald is survived by his wife Jennie of 66 years, daughter Patricia (Ronald) McGaffick, daughter-in-law Nancy Boyer, brother Elton (Phyllis) Boyer, grandchildren; Richard Boyer, Jr., Kerri (Michael) Keller, Kristie (Josh Burss) Boyer, Scott (Mariana) McGaffick, Wendy (Josh Brickner) McGaffick, great-grandchildren; Logan Boyer, Megan Keller, Trent Keller, Makenzie Burss and Samantha Burss. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Singleton officiating. Internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Christian C/O First Christian Church 161 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth, OH 44281 or VNS Hospice, Copley, OH. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Magnolia Village for the wonderful care he received.
