Marion Burkhart (Nemec), 92, passed away June 13, 2023. She was born June 3, 1931 to the late Anton and Josephine Nemec.

She grew up in what is now considered Slavic Village in Cleveland, Ohio. Her family was of Bohemian descent, and she was always proud of this heritage and loved to tell  stories about her grandmother who “crossed the ocean” to get here.

Faith and family were central to her, and life revolved around the local Catholic Church. Her proudest moment was being voted May Queen in eighth grade. Her devotion to the Virgin Mary sustained her throughout life.

Marion was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Wilbur Burkhart.

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Kephart; grandchildren, Michael Leavitt and Jacqueline Fritz; great-grandchildren, Angela Buckbee, Christopher Young, Chloe Leavitt, Colton Leavitt, Lauren Fritz, and Jack Fritz; as well as great-great-grandson, Cooper Buckbee.

Special thanks and gratitude for the loving staff at Apostolic Christian Village, with particular appreciation for nurses Stephanie, Brenda, and Kathy, and social worker, Susan. Highest appreciation for Neil Gasser, as he became a close and loving friend to her and great support to family.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Friday, June 16 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N Lyman St, Wadsworth, 44281, where a Rosary service will be held at 6:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, June 19 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
