Carolyn Mae Haas, 77, passed away Sunday Aug. 27, 2017 after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1940 in Akron to the late William and Mary Hurt.
Carolyn attended St. Sebastian Elementary school. She graduated from St. Vincent HS in 1958. She was a graduate of the class of 1961 from St. Thomas School of Nursing. She worked at Akron Children’s Hospital prior to getting married. She was a member of St. Hilary Parish in Fairlawn and served on the Parish counsel. Carolyn later moved to Jupiter Fl. and was a member of the choir at St. Peters Church. She was also a member of St. Judes Church in Tequesta, Fl.
She was preceded in death by her brother William Hurt II and nephew Jim Hurt.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters Maria Haas, Kathleen (Ron) Paydo, Jennifer Haas (Val Jones); four grandchildren, Melissa (Conner) Childers, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Matthew Paydo. She is also survived by her sister Merrylou Windhorst, sister-in-law Rosemary Hurt; nephews, Brian (Maureen) Windhorst, William (Kathy) Hurt III, Jeff (Jill) Hurt; and niece Kristin Sparks.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30th, at 11am At Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St. Wadsworth, OH. 44281, with Father Pat Spicer celebrating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to Mass from 10-11am at the church.
Interment at Rose Hill cemetery in Fairlawn.
