Charles “Ben” Wenger, 92, died July 26, 2017. He was born March 20, 1925 in Rittman, Ohio to the late Robert and Elizabeth Wenger.

Preceded in death by his first wife Charlyn, second wife Phyllis, sisters Betty Coolman, Grace Wald and Virginia Moser and granddaughter Dawn, he is survived by his children Russell (Linda) of Arkansas, Faye (Jim) Ellifritz of Canal Fulton and Neil (Robin) of Wadsworth; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Ben proudly served his country in the US ARMY during WWII, where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with Bronze Battle Star and a Purple Heart. He was a proud member of the American Legion and retired from Babcock & Wilcox after many years of dedicated service. He loved to walk before walking was fashionable, spending time with his family and attending his grandkids sporting events.

The family will receive friends Sunday 4 to 6 PM at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth, where memorial service will be held Monday at 11 AM. Private inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ben would have wanted you to just save your money.
