Obituary
Thomas J. “Thom” Chesko, 75, of Wadsworth passed away Monday, August 15, 2022. He was born October 11, 1946 in Akron, OH to the late Steve and Alfreda Gutowski. Mr. Chesko was a 1964 graduate of Kenmore High School, served in the National Guard and was retired from the Akron Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was a member of both Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth and St. Andrew Catholic Church in Norton. Thom was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose, Jednota Club, Hibernian Club and the Retired Fireman’s Association.
He enjoyed teaching his family about nature, and making sure they knew all about the various trees. He would even play Cinderella just to get Rebecca to put her shoes on for school.
Thom loved sports, especially golf and attending Ohio State home football games for the past 20 years. He also enjoyed going to casinos and taking the kids with him for the “food”.
Another thing Thom enjoyed was delivering Christmas Trees sold at the Children’s Hospital.
Thom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanne; daughter, Rebecca (Jason) Chesko; grandson, Jeffrey; brother, Steve (Sue) Chesko; sisters, Pat Myers and Barbara (Steve) Day; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Rabatin) Hartley; and brother-in-law, Tom Rabatin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30am Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth. The family will receive friends 4-7 Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Thom’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Society, C/O Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 260 Broad, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
