Laverne was born on September 9, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Esther Pearson (nee Stevens). She graduated from Westville High School in 1945 and was the grand champion of the school spelling bee. Laverne and Andy began their journey together starting a family and moving several times throughout the years due to Andy’s career with Montgomery Wards. In 1964 they chose to return to Ohio and settled in Wadsworth, OH to raise their two sons. They purchased the Village Gift Shoppe in Norton, OH where Laverne and Andy owned and managed the business for nearly 20 years until their retirement. Laverne was very devoted to her family, took pride in being a homemaker, raising her sons and being a grandmother. She enjoyed managing their gift shop, and volunteering at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital as a pink lady in the gift shop for over 25 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed watching basketball. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church as well as the Altar & Rosary Society. Laverne always greeted everyone particularly her grandchildren with a sweet and warm smile.
