Obituary
Thomas Auble Cox, 93, died Oct. 2, 2013. A lifelong resident of Wadsworth, he was born to the late Forrest and LaVonne (Auble) Cox on Aug. 19, 1920.
Tom graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1938. During WW II, he served in the South Pacific as part of the Joint Assault Signal Company. He owned and operated Holmesbrook Lumber Co. As a passionate advocate for his community, he served on Wadsworth City Council and as Mayor in the 1980s. He volunteered in numerous community projects and at the state level as a leader for Buckeye Boys State. He was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Rea) Cox, brothers Ted and Bob, stepson Paul Pipitone, and great-grandson Henry Kraska. He will be dearly missed by his wife Phyllis (Lukowski) Pipitone Cox, daughters Ann Hudson (Tom) and Jane Kraska (Bob); stepchildren Guy Pipitone (Renee), Dan Pipitone (Patricia), Lea Pipitone; grandchildren Sarah, Julie, Matthew, Elizabeth, Peter, Brett, Adrienne, Alison, Chance, Addison, and Kelsey, and ten great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street, Wadsworth with a memorial service at 1:30 Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 High St., Wadsworth. Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity UCC or a charity of your choice.
