Pauline (Polly) G. Critchfield, 94, passed away at Danbury Senior Living in Wooster, Ohio on Oct.22, 2020, after a long battle with dementia and declining health. Polly was born on November 19, 1925 in Ellet, Ohio to John and Edna Bowers. She graduated with honors from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, and then worked at Canton Drop Forge as a receptionist and bookkeeper. Polly married her beloved high school sweetheart, Xen Critchfield, on Dec. 31, 1946. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage for 61 years. Polly was a true role model as a homemaker. She adored her family and cherished her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She kept a beautiful home, and was known for her wonderful cooking and home decorating skills. She also had a tremendous sense of fashion, and was always dressed with meticulous attention to style, accessories, and color. Polly was truly a sweet woman of humor, class, and dignity; she was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Polly enjoyed volunteer work with the Cancer Society, American Red Cross, March of Dimes, and Every Woman’s House in Wooster. She was fond of bowling, and also attended exercise classes well into her 90’s, earning a spot on the Wooster YMCA`s “Wall of Fame” for her outstanding dedication to physical fitness. One of her greatest passions, however, was her love for the game of bridge. She was well known as a very skilled card player, and at one time was a member of 8 different bridge clubs.

Polly also loved traveling with her faithful traveling companion, her daughter, Vicki. Together they enjoyed trips to Canada, Las Vegas, Florida, and 2 trips to Europe. Polly also spent many happy times with her husband, Xen, children, and grandchildren at the family’s summer cottage at Charles Mill Lake in Mifflin, Oh.

Polly is survived by her three beloved children, David (Leslie), Thomas (Viviana), and Vicki (David); six grandchildren, Kiersti (Matthew), Sara, Kim (Chris), Stacey, Arron, and Daniel; eight great grandchildren, Eli, Noah, Hope, Eve, Eden, Emily, Ethan, and Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Sherman, brothers, Rolland and Charles Bowers, and her husband, Xen Critchfield.

Due to Covid 19, there will be no calling hours or funeral. A private celebration of life gathering will be held at the family`s convenience.
