Dennis E. (Denny) Burdett was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 16, 2015.

Born in Wadsworth on January 7, 1937, he was a life-long resident of Sharon Center, was very active in the community, and was jokingly referred to as The Mayor of Sharon Center. He served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and read the Military Role Call for veterans each Memorial Day. He was active at the Wadsworth Y and the Suprema Cafe “theater group” which performs at area nursing homes. He drove bus for Akron
Baptist Temple for 13 years and volunteered at Hope Cafe Ministry in Akron. He served in the U.S Marine Corps from 1956-1962 and was in the 1958 Lebanon crisis.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents Keith & Ellen Burdett, sister Donna, and brothers Donald & Robert. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years Norma (Reeder) Burdett, children Scott (LeAnna), Leanne (Tony) Cerny, John Burdett and Jason (Kathryn) Burdett. There are 7 grandchildren: Corbin & Clay Cerny, Caleb & Hunter Burdett, and Ellen, Aubrey, & Julia Burdett. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Pickering, many cousins, nieces, nephews, special touring friends Dwain & Diana Stingley, the Friday morning breakfast group at Crites, “mischievous cohorts” at the Y, many 1955 classmates of Highland High School, ABF Sunday Class at ABT, and special neighbors John & Cheryl and his little buddies Koen & Jaxson Wilks.

 

 

The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Monday and 10-11 AM Tuesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 1784 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, funeral immediately following at 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sharon Cemetery.
