Obituary
Leon Thomas Doutrich, 85, of Wadsworth, passed away February 20, 2016. He was born November 26, 1930, in Akron, OH to the late Samuel and Grace Doutrich. He was a retired Army veteran of twenty-two years, having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He later retired as a banker after twenty-two years. Leon was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1089, the American Legion, Post 170, and the Retired Enlisted Association. He served on the Fort Knox Retiree Council, and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. He was also a member of Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC). One of Leon’s highlights while in the US Army was to serve as the Tank Commander for General Creighton Abrams while in Frankfurt, Germany. His hobbies included golf, bowling, and traveling. He was the #1 Cleveland Browns fan and was a season ticket holder for thirty three years. His favorite Browns of all time were Jim Brown, #32 and Otto Graham, #14. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage; daughter, Vickie Williams; brother, Paul Hamrick; and sister, Virginia (Hamrick) Kyer. He is survived by children Debera (Bruce) Lorincz, Terry (Jeff Wolf) Ewing, Samuel (Michelle) Doutrich III, and Lynlee (Francis) Fertal, beloved grandchildren Maureen (Scott) Astley, Lauren Lorincz, Jay (Angela) Doutrich, Timothy (Nikki) Weston, Andrew (Christa) Doutrich, Audra (Raul) Cano, Kaeli and Shelby Fertal, 5 great-grandchildren, and sister Mary (Doutrich) Warrington. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2016 at Trinity UCC, 215 High St., Wadsworth, OH, with the Rev. Daniel Doty and Rev. Lauren Lorincz officiating. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 12-1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bonnie Davis, 4265 Shepherd Church St, Canton OH 44706 who represents Quilts of Valor in Akron OH.
