David C. Dress has returned to his Heavenly Father. Although his passing was sudden and unexpected, he had been struggling with ill health. David was preceded in death by his father Donald of Wadsworth in 1995. He is survived by his beloved family: mother Elizabeth; children Don and Domenica (Matthew) Wiborg; former wife Jacqueline; brother Norman (Lois); niece Erin; many cousins and friends; and his cherished Yorkie Pumpkin.

A graduate of Wadsworth High School and The University of Akron, he served honorably in the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserves. After working as an accountant for various agencies, he retired from the Girl Scouts of the Western  Reserve where he served as fiscal officer.

David was deeply devoted to his family and had many interests including religious studies, camping, solar and wind energy (Solar Dave), martial arts, and Zen Philosophy. He loved to read and discuss the Bible, and had a special reverence for the Virgin Mary and St. Francis of Assisi.

Family will receive friends Thursday, September 27, from 5-8 pm at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral home, 174 North Lyman Street, Wadsworth, where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 on Friday, September 28. Internment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 12:30. Memorials may be made to Granger United Methodist Church, Fairlawn VFW, American Heart Association, Girl Scouts, or Humane Society.
