Dorothy F. Durkin, 85, of Wadsworth died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 29, 2011. She was born on September 18, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late George and Stella Dragon. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Wadsworth and Seville Red Hats, and a member of the Wadsworth Friends of the Library where she was an avid reader. She loved antiques and spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James Durkin in 1999 and her brother Robert Dragon.
Surviving are her four daughters and one son: Mary Ellen (James) Foster of Cincinnati, OH, Kathleen Mahaffey of NY, NY, James Durkin of Roseland, NJ, Anne (David) Maxon of Wadsworth, Jeanne (Jim) Eckl of Rochester, NY, her grandchildren: Kim (Javier) Lopez, Jennifer Durkin, Andrew Durkin, Stephanie Maxon, David Maxon, Sarah Maxon, Garrett Eckl, Natalie Eckl and one great granddaughter Sophia Lopez.
The family will receive friends Tuesday (TODAY) 4-8 PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 272 Broad St. Wadsworth. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
