William L. “Bill” Eckenrode, 74, of Wadsworth passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Born February 9, 1935 in Barberton to the late Leo and Carrie Eckenrode.

Mr. Eckenrode was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, where he was an usher, was a graduate of Barberton High School Class of 1953, and was retired from Bridgestone Firestone Tire.

After retirement he worked at Pine Valley Golf Course, volunteered at the Wadsworth Salvation Army, enjoyed golfing and fishing, and chauffeuring his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years Johanna, his children; Barbara
(Ken) Barr of Beavercreek, OH, David (Karen) Eckenrode of Wadsworth, Karen (Joel) Fishel of Canal Fulton, and Bob (Kay) Eckenrode of North Canton, his grandchildren; Michelle and Kimberly Barr, David Jr., Johanna, Patricia, and Thomas Eckenrode, Joshua and Brian Fishel, and Brooke Eckenrode, and one sister Betty (Cliff) Shumaker of Wadsworth. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also surviving.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Akron City Hospital ICU,
especially Julie and Mary for their comfort and support.

The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Monday at the Hilliard-Rospert
Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, where a prayer service will be at 4:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd. Norton, OH 44203 with Fr. James Maloney, celebrant. Please meet at the church. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
