Edmund “Ed” Evans, 65, passed away on May 25, 2023 to be with Our Lord, his brother, and all of the family in heaven. He was born on Wednesday, December 18, 1957 to Norman and Roberta “Bobbie” Evans.

Ed was a 1976 graduate of Norton High School and attended Akron University. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving 6 years Active and Reserve. Ed was stationed in Germany for two years. He was an Expert M-16 Rifleman and received the “Good Conduct Medal.” He was self-employed, ran his company “Evans Construction,” then managed Scorchers for two years before moving to Costa Rica, where he lived for 21 years.

Ed enjoyed coaching Wadsworth Girls’ Fastpitch Softball and traveling to different countries for tournaments. He loved sports, swimming, and hunting and had a passion for traveling. He also liked to read and watch old movies. Ed loved playing football and wrestling in high school and while attending Akron U.

Ed is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald P. Evans; sister-in-law, Tami Jo Evans; grandparents, Lawrence and Geneva Hayden and Jesse and Stella Evans, and uncle, Ronald L. Hayden.

He is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Silvia; parents, Norm and Bobbie Evans; brothers, Brian W. Evans, Richard (Patty) Evans, and Steven (Rose) Evans; children, Melissa (Dan) Martin and Jered L. Evans; grandchildren, Case, Carter, Colton, and Cassidy Martin and Skylar Evans. Step-children, Lester, Yubelca, Liseth, and Brayon, who live in Costa Rica. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins; Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Bill Keenan, and Aunt Mona Lynn and Uncle Richard Lowe. Special friends, Rick Ricciardi, Buddy Thayer, and Sid Owens.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 9:45am on June 14, 2023 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please meet at the Welcome Center at 9:30am. A celebration of life will be held from 5-8pm on June 14, 2023 at the Akron FOP Lodge #7, 2610 Ley Dr, Akron.

Ed was a loving son, father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was an amazing person with a kind heart. Ed will be missed so much by so many.
