Thomas L. “Tom” Flath, 79, of Wadsworth passed away Friday, October 12, 2018. He was born June 21, 1939 in Wadsworth to the late Leonard and Edith Flath.
He was a graduate of Wadsworth High School Class of 1957, was employed as the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Manager at Seiberling Tire and Rubber and later held the same position at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital. Tom was a Wadsworth fireman for over 30 years and was the founder of the Wadsworth EMS and Flath Electric.
He was a member of the Wadsworth American Legion, Wadsworth VFW, Wadsworth Eagles and Rittman Moose.
Tom cherished spending time with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, NASCAR, his pond, sitting on the patio, and playing softball for years. He also enjoyed a cold Stroh’s on occasion (actually, any and every occasion).
Preceded in death by his brother Clarence “Chick” Flath and his in-laws Ann and Delbert Graves.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Jean (George) with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 14, 2018, their daughter and son-in-law Kim “Sis” & Tim McQueen, sons and daughters-in-law: Tim & Lee Flath and Dave & Mel Flath. Their grandchildren Tim “TJ” (Ellie), Derek (Trisha), Nate (Rachel), Chad (Marie), Mikaela, Brenna and great grandchildren Carter, Jonathan “JT”, Hayes, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave & Judy Graves and Tom’s four legged buddy Chance.
The family will receive friends 4-8PM Wednesday and from 12 noon – 1PM Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where a celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 1PM Thursday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the tremendous Doctors, Nurses and care givers that took care of Tom. You are all greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
