Larry Charles Foster passed away September 11, 2011 at his home in Wadsworth, OH. Larry was born in Willard, OH on January 29, 1944 to Charles and Eleanor Foster.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years Cheryl (Vaught) Foster; son David (Mary Beth) Foster; daughter Leigh Ann (Sean) Champion; step daughters Carrie Croskey, Chrissy (George) Roletter, and Micah (Geoff) LeMessurier; eight grandchildren; sisters Kay (Jack) Salzman, Nancy (David) Poszgai, and Barbara (Chris) Lloyd; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry worked for 25 years at BF Goodrich in Akron then relocated with the company to Jacksonville, Florida. He returned to Wadsworth in 1999 working as the Director of Marketing and Program with SMR Technologies. After retiring in 1997, he and Cheryl became RV travelers vacationing between Key West, Florida and Palm Springs, California.
Larry served one year as Wadsworth City Councilman. He also was on the recreation commission for 10 years during the construction of Steiner Youth Center. He was a member of First Christian Church in Wadsworth. Larry assisted with several youth programs such as Basketball and Boy Scouts. He recently worked in the Pro Shop at Sharon Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and fisherman for many years. He was loved by all who knew him. His favorite love was spent with family and friends.
Preceded in death were his mother and father, Charles and Eleanor Foster, and his first wife of 28 years, Cindy (Jones) Foster.
A Memorial service and celebration of Larry’s life will be held at First Christian Church on Wednesday, September 14 at 11:00 AM. The family requests memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Wadsworth, 116 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth, OH 44281, or The American Cancer Society.
