Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty"
Gairing
Wadsworth, Ohio

Elizabeth (McEntee) Gairing, affectionately known most as Betty, Mom, and Nana, of Wadsworth, OH passed away peacefully on March 20th at the age of 85. Vibrant and healthy for most of her life, she gracefully and unselfishly fought illness during its final stages – all the while blessing her loving family with more time with her.
Born in Wadsworth, Ohio on November 3, 1938 to Stephen and Lillian McEntee, Betty is survived by her six children: Dan (Vicki) Gairing, Kathy (Bob) Calhoun, Bob (Audrey) Gairing, Leslie (Dan) Miller, Tom (Tracey) Gairing, and Chris (Joe) Keller. She was the beloved grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband (Walter Gairing) of nearly 55-years, her parents, brothers Dick and Jerry McEntee, sister MaryLou Pisanelli, brother-in-laws Robert Gairing, James Couch and Ralph Pisanelli, and sister-in-laws Helen Gairing and Rita Couch.
Betty lived her entire life as a resident of Wadsworth, OH, was a member of the Wadsworth H.S. Class of 1956, and a life-long member of Sacred Heart of Jesus parish where she along with all her six children were married. She was crowned “Miss Wadsworth” in 1959, although her most notable beauty and biggest accomplishments centered around her family, and the countless blessings she bestowed on them. For her no detail was too small, nor effort too large when it came to building a loving home, for making all who knew her feel special, and in opening up her heart to an abundance of friends, neighbors, and strangers over a life spent putting others first. She enjoyed many years of participation in church choir, membership and activities with the Wadsworth Gyro Club, serving the Wadsworth Historical Society, and many other activities that revolved around paying it forward. She loved time with family, no occasion was ever missed or too small to celebrate, with most notable memories being hundreds of holidays and birthdays hosted in the family home, family vacations, trips made in later years with her children/grandchildren, and an infinite number of impromptu gatherings/cookouts that seemed to always sprout around her. Revered by her family, and admired for who she was and what she stood for, her legacy will live on in perpetuity following a lifetime of instilling in her children/grandchildren faith in God, kindness, integrity, and a commitment to family.
We were blessed to have many years together and although our hearts are broken we believe she is together again with her beloved husband. Her memory and devotion will live on in our hearts forever. Those whose lives were touched by Betty are encouraged to join us at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home. , 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth on Tuesday from 4-8pm for visitation and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth on Wednesday at 11am for Mass of Christian Burial.
