American Airlines Captain Val Gerstenschlager (retired), age 72, of Weatherford, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 while surrounded by his family in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Survivors include his wife MerryLynn; one son, Burke Gerstenschlager and wife Michele
Whitney of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Heidi Gerstenschlager Gresham and husband Dustin, of Lubbock, Texas; one grandson, Benzing Cooper Gresham; one brother, Neal Gerstenschlager and wife Diane of Wadsworth, Ohio; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1-2PM Saturday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Val’s favorite charities were the Salvation Army and the Happy Hill Farm Academy in Granbury.
