Wadsworth –
Max E. (Mickey) Gruver
June 26, 1925 – June 23, 2011. He was born and lived all his life in Wadsworth, OH. Max was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He married Esther Welty on October 22, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents Milo and Ellyce Gruver, brothers Lynn, Roger and Lowell.
He is survived by his loving wife Esther, sons Michael (Jo) and Dana (Kari), daughters Gail Coughenour (Mike) and Laurie (Robert) Bault; grandchildren Cindy Coughenour Boswell (Scott), Kim Coughenour Kennedy (Steve), Michael Coughenour (Laura), Kathryn Gruver Lee (James), Matthew Gruver (Kelly), Nicole Bonnallie Dye, Amanda Bonnallie Taylor, Eric Bonnallie; great- grandchildren Melissa and Jennifer Boswell, Chelsea and Alex Kennedy, Emily, Claire and Benjamin Coughenour and Reese Gruver.
Max was employed for many years at the Ohio Injector/Conval and worked for a time in his retirement at Holmesbrook Hardware.
Mickey’s hobbies included playing cards (especially euchre and cribbage), camping, listening to Dixieland Jazz, gardening, woodworking, bird watching, and fishing. He was also blessed with an amazing sense of humor and was an expert joke teller.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 2, 2011, at 10:00 AM at First Christian Church, 116 East Boyer St. Wadsworth with Rev. James L. Singleton officiating.
