Joseph E. Gruber, 84, formerly of Lakewood more recently of Wadsworth passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019. He was born November 22, 1934 in Cleveland to the late George and Anna Gruber. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, was a retired Letter Carrier, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was an usher and was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council #3213.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Victoria Feldkircher, Daniel Gruber and Elizabeth Bouhall.
Joe is survived by his wife Evelyn with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage, son David (Stephanie) Gruber of Kent, daughters, Barbara (David) Bickford of West Farmington and Mary Gruber of Lakewood. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah Gingras, Anna Gruber, Stephen “SJ” Gruber, Megan Bickford, Rachael Bickford and his sister Jane Laub of FL.
The family will receive friends 5-8pm Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10am Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 260 Broad St.,Wadsworth. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
