Obituary
Jackson J. Hall of Wadsworth, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2010, surrounded by his loving family after a year long battle with cancer.
He was a man of many talents, interests, and titles, but more than anything will be remembered for his gentle manner, his arsenal of great jokes, and the loving way that he cared for his wife and family, always putting others first.
His notable achievements include the WWII Victory Medal in the US Coast Guard, president of HJ Hall Trucking and Hall’s Racquetball, founding member of Rawiga Country Club, and Treasurer of the City of Wadsworth.
His youth was spent growing up in the household of Wadsworth Mayor and public servant, H. Jerry Hall, and Jackson learned from example to serve and minister to others through activities such as the Lions Club and several groups at his church of Annunciation, Akron.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene, children; Melanie (David) Irwin, Fr. Jerry (Helene), Jenni (Drew) Griffith, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, all of whom he supported, encouraged, and loved, in every way that he was able.
Calling hours will be held Thursday 5-8 PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, with Trisagios service at 7 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, January 29, at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., Akron. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman st 2 PM Friday. Memorial donations may be offered to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
