Obituary
Martha Kunkle Henry, 86, died January 22, 2015. She was born November 22, 1928 to the late Wilmer and Lucy Jones in Vanderbilt, PA.
Martha Jeane was a proud graduate of Seton Hill College, where she was Valedictorian of the Nursing Class of 1954. As a Registered Nurse, she was named the Nurse of Hope for the American Cancer Society in Westmoreland County, PA. She spent her most memorable years as a hospice nurse. Prior to moving to the Stow/Kent area, she was a member of the Missions Committee at Canfield Presbyterian Church, Canfield Historical Society, Canfield’s Red Chapeaux, The Huguenot Society of PA and the North Huntington Straw Pumpers. She was an active member of The Stow Presbyterian Church, where she was a volunteer at the church library.
An avid Steelers fan, Martha enjoyed reading, sewing, geneology, China painting, collecting giraffes, traveling to Daytona Beach and most of all spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Ferraro, second husband Earl Kunkle, third husband Kenneth Henry, son Jeffrey Alan Kunkle and sister Norma Lee Jones, she is survived by daughters Janelle (George) Wargo of Kent and Lisa (Arne) Anderson of Greer, SC; grandchildren Neil (Melissa) Fisher; Alicia (Scott) Gauer, Lindsay (Ryan) Loew, and Brandon, Colin and Jordan Anderson; great-grandchildren Brynn, Allie, Channing, Gavin and Emma; brothers David (Ginny), Russell (Diana), W. Kenneth (Dee), Barry (Linda) and Daniel (Janie) Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday 3 to 6 PM at REDMON FUNERAL HOME, 3633 Darrow Road in Stow. Dr. David Weyrick will conduct the funeral service Monday at 11 AM at Stow Presbyterian Church, 4150 Fishcreek Road in Stow. Interment will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa.
