Albert P. Hofer, 95, formerly of Akron more recently of Wooster passed away Thursday, May 5, 2010. Born November 18, 1914 in Akron, he was a graduate of Garfield High School Class of 1934, served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII in England, North Africa and Italy, was a member of the VFW Post #3383, Firestone Country Club and was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber.
Mr. Hofer was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Fay Marie Hofer (nee Casenhiser) his parents John and Anna Hofer brothers Walter, Herman, John Jr., Carl, Elmer, George and sisters Rose, Clara Eakins and Matilda Woods.
He is survived by, two sons and daughters in law James Alan and Jacque Hofer of Akron and William Albert and Constance Hofer of Wooster.
There are his grandchildren Robin Hofer, Jon, Bonnie, Michael and Bruce (Gretchen) Hofer and great grandchildren Jessica Dolan, Ariel, Arika, Alexander, Grace, Audrey, Luke and Grant Hofer also surviving.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, with The Rev. Daniel J. Cammarn officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday.
