Wadsworth, OH

David Harrison Hoffman, loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 10th, at the age of 31. Having been baptized and receiving the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, David is now welcomed back to his heavenly home, where he is warmly embraced with                                                       love by his departed grandparents, family, and friends.

Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, David graduated from Jackson High School in Massillon before receiving his undergraduate degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Akron. David found his competitive spirit early, excelling in baseball as an outstanding pitcher and shortstop for his youth travel teams and the Jackson Polar Bears. This competitiveness and an admirable degree of stubbornness were most apparent in David’s academic pursuits. Not one to settle, he was determined to obtain a degree and profession worthy of his intellect and ability. He persevered and succeeded in putting his knowledge and expertise to good use as a Lab Chemist with Summit Environmental Services.

To his family and friends, Davey is remembered for his generosity, kindness, compassion, and humor. He treated everyone with warmth and understanding. Whether inviting you to play a round of golf, watch a game, check out a new band, or watch a show that he thought you’d love, David found joy in sharing these experiences with the ones he held close. His ornery sense of humor and ability to identify the absurd in just about any situation was a skill without equal. So many try so hard in their comedic efforts, but for Dave, it was natural and effortless. No matter the circumstances, if he thought you needed a laugh, he’d find a way to make it happen.

Beyond family and friends, David’s kindness extended to his love of animals, reflecting a gentle soul who found solace and connection in the company of his and his family’s pets, best friend Louie, Jaxi, Mickey, and Darin. He is undoubtedly playing ball with his favorite lazy dog Hannah and Jackjack, Santana and Teddy.

Preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Erma Jene King, Shirley and Harold Hoffman, David is survived by his father David Hoffman, mother and step-father Sandi and Joel Beard, siblings Andrew (Katie), Dan, Aaron (Torre), Charlotte, Eva, Hailey (Jake), Macy (Cole), and his many uncles, aunts, niece, nephews, and cousins.

Please join us in celebrating David’s life and the love we have for him during calling hours from 4-6 PM on Thursday, January 18th, at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home located at 174 N Lyman St, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
