Mildred F. Holland, 102, of Sharon Township passed away March 17, 2016. She was born September 10, 1913 in Palmyra, NJ to the late Thomas and Florence(Bickelman) Shearston.

Mildred was a resident of Sharon Township for over 48 years and was a long-time a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church. She worked for Bell Labs during WWll within the secret research project to develop radar, for which she was proud to have received a commemorative pin. She later retired from the Westfield Insurance company in 1978. Mildred loved to travel, especially to England, where she and her husband made many trips together. She enjoyed reading murder mysteries, doing word puzzles, and was an avid walker,being a familiar sight at Memorial Park and the local Walmart.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, W. Frederick Holland, daughter Florence Holland, brother William, and sisters Dorothy, Ruth, and Florence.

She is survived by her Grandchildren, Amanda, Bryan, and Dorothy Holland-Minkley, and her son-in-law Edwin Minkley, all of Pittsburgh, PA.

 

Family will receive friends this Sunday at 3-4 pm at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church 6407 Ridge Rd., Sharon Center, Ohio, where Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 pm. Pastor Erik Marshall will be officiating. Burial will take place in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Shenandoah, PA. Per family request no flowers.
