John H. “Jack” Holt, 87, of Medina passed away Thursday morning, April 12, 2018. He was born on December 11, 1930 in Youngstown, OH to the late Otis and Estella Holt.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, was retired from The Home Saving and Loan Co. of Youngstown where he had served as President and COO. He was a former Rotarian, former member and President of the Poland School Board, was active with The United Way and served on the board of Children and Family Services of Mahoning County. Mr. Holt was an avid basketball player, he was inducted into the Poland Seminary High School Hall of Fame, the Wooster College Hall of Fame and also played basketball for The Navy. His hobbies included bridge, golf and basketball.
He was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns Fan and was known by his family to be a duct tape enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his son John Scott Holt, sister Jane Holt and brother Robert Holt.
Jack is survived by his wife Joan with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, daughters and son-in-law, Jackie & Bill Motsinger of Boardman, OH, Leigh & Richard Smith of Louisville, KY and son J.D. (fiancé Kate) Holt.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kiersten Cooksey, Evan Cooksey, Tyler Smith, Zack Smith and Maggie Smith along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 am Monday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Friends will be received from 10am – 11:30 am Monday.
