Oris Opal Huston, 96, died January 7, 2013. She was born February 28, 1916 in Jackson Township, Ohio to the late Lloyd and June (Clark) Arnold.

In 1934 she was graduated from Shiloh High School and was married. Oris, whose greatest joy was spending time with her family, spent her life as a homemaker.

Preceded in death by her husband G. Leo in 1966 and son Larry in 2007; Survived by daughter Norma (Lorrell) Mast of Wadsworth; daughter-in-law Laurie (Meyers) Huston of Westerville; 5 grandchildren Lisa (Wally) Younger, Julie (Scott) Bowman, Joseph Mast, Sharon (Dale) Thompson and Jeff (Sally) Huston and 10 great-grandchildren Nicholas, Ashley, Brittany, Jordyn, Eric, Christian, Victoria, Kelly, Jamie and Steven.

In her younger years, Oris was an active member of the Richland County Farm Bureau and had lead roles in plays sponsored by the Adario Farmer’s Institute. She was a past member of Adario Methodist and Bethel Baptist churches, member of Freshwater Community Church in Wadsworth, participant in Bible Study Fellowship and in more recent years she enjoyed Christian programming, especially Dr. Charles Stanley.

Oris, affectionately known as “Nana” holds a special place in the hearts of many. She is fondly remembered for her love for God and for sharing that love with others. She was an avid gardener, creative woodworker and exceptional cook and hostess. With a welcoming spirit, she often opened her home to share a time of fun and laughter. Many have been blessed through her prayers, generosity and sound advice.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at Freshwater Community Church, 185 Humboldt Avenue, Wadsworth, where visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freshwater Community Church.
