Obituary
Marian E. Kahl, 97, of Wadsworth, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012. She was born on April 9, 1914 in Litchfield, OH to the late John and Lena Knopf.
Mrs. Kahl was a graduate of Litchfield High School and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and had served as the Sacred Heart Catholic School Library Clerk from 1965 – 1975. She was a co-chairman of the initial fish fries at Sacred Heart which have now been continued by the Knights of Columbus. She was active with the Girl Scouts for 25 years where she served as a Leader, Camp Chairman and was President of the Girl Scout Council for 4 years. She initiated the fund raising drive for the Scout House in Memorial Park which was completed in 1962. In later years she was active with the Lively Seniors where she had served as President and Program Chair. For several years she also worked with the Wadsworth Library Bookmobile.
She worked with her husband Chuck in a joint venture building and renovating 30+ houses and apartments in Wadsworth which they rented at an affordable rate.
She enjoyed deep sea fishing trips to Cape Hatteras , cooking, traveling and playing card games with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chuck” Kahl on July 4, 2006, eight brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Kahl is survived by her son, Tom A. Kahl (Pat Warner Kahl) of Jacksonville, N.C.; daughters Marilyn A. Kahl, RGS of Atlanta, GA, and Joan M. Oboyski (David K. Sr.) of Saratoga Springs, NY; eight grandchildren, Nathan (Abby) Kahl, Chuck (Pamela) Kahl, Matthew (Aimee) Kahl, Andrew (Christine) Bennett, Connie (Tom) Sellman, Mitzi (Santiago) Carvajal, Vicki (Kurt) Carlson, Tony (Krista) Bennett and 20 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4:30 – 7:30 PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where a prayer services will be held at 7:30 PM.
Prayers Friday 9:00AM at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St. Wadsworth, with Fr. Joseph Labak, Celebrant. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund.
