Helen (Pero) Kalafus, 95, of Wadsworth passed away October 7, 2010. Helen was born December 11, 1914 in Suffield, Ohio, one of 10 children of Charles and Anna (Andes) Pero. She was the wife of John E. Kalafus. Helen was a resident of the Salem, Ohio area for 50 years before moving to Montrose in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Kalafus, her parents, her brothers George, Claude, Sylvan, Joseph and Robert; and sister Sr. Margaret Mary Pero, SCA. She is survived by her 8 children Eileen (Dan) Kliner of Ashland, OH, Rosalie (Jim) Swickard of Summerfield, FL, John (Dee) of East Granby, CT, Barbara (Jerry) of San Diego, CA, Cecelia (Bill) Bees of Wadsworth, OH, Mary (Dallas) Rodgers of Painesville, OH, Frances (Jon) Spence of Bellbrook, OH, and Debra (Bill) Heffern of Broadview Hts, OH; 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; sister Margie Pero; brother Fred (Audrey) Pero; sister-in-law June Pero and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM, Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home on 174 North Lyman St, Wadsworth where the rosary will be said at 6:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM, Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on 272 Broad St. Wadsworth where the family will gather prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Suffield, Ohio.
