James A. Kappele, 88, of Wadsworth passed away Monday, September 19, 2011. He was born on July 13, 1923 in Cleveland to the late Arthur and Eleanor Kappele.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, served in WWII Army Air Force in the 319th Bomb Group flying a B-26 Marauder and was a Prisoner of War. He was a member of POW North Central Ohio Chapter #8, and was a member of Wadsworth Lodge #385 F&AM. He worked and retired form Alcoa of Cleveland, Howmet/Alcoa of Michigan and Connecticut. He lived in Wadsworth and continued his true passion – Flying.
Jim was preceded in death by his love, Louise Margaret to whom he was married on July 21, 1945 and one brother Dohn.
James was the loving father of Arthur (Julietta), Janice (Kurt) McLaughlin, Lois (Michael) Edge and Jeff (Patti) Kappele. he was blessed with sixteen grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren and was the loving brother of Bruce (Dennis) of Arizona.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-7:30 PM Monday, September 26 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, where funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 pm with Rev. Daniel Doty officiating.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be conducted Tuesday, September 27 at 2:30PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery information center at 2:15PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the James A. Kappele / Wadsworth Airport Scholarship fund. These funds will be used assist youth who wish to learn to fly.
