Robert L. King of Wadsworth, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Akron City Hospital. He was 82 years old. He was born on March 13, 1934 in Barberton, Ohio. He graduated from Wadsworth High School, May 29, 1952. On June 22, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart Joyce Gibbs, and together they had 2 children, Teresa and Roger. Robert worked for 35 years as an Industrial Engineer at the Babcock & Wilcox Company in Barberton, OH and after retirement became a genealogist. He served as a member of the United States Military from 1956-1958. Robert was a very dedicated father and grandfather, and enjoyed perfecting his strategy in Chinese Checkers. He loved attending and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. You would find him every Saturday morning for over 20 years at Buehler’s having morning brunch surrounded by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He was predeceased by his wife Joyce, his parents William and Bessie, brother William (Shirley).

Robert is survived by his daughter Teresa (Michael) Shaffer and son Roger (Julie) King, sisters Dianne (Otch) Houston, Jean (Robert ) Dillon, grandchildren Esther, Ruth, Ted, Luke and great grandson DeAndre’. Robert is also survived by his companion Jeanne Roth and her children Jon and Sandy (Keith) Deck and her grandchildren Julie (Daryl) Jackson, Emily and Tyler.

The family will receive friends 4-7pm Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
