Obituary
Jeannie Bradof Kirkpatrick passed away on May 16 after an extended battle with cancer. Jeannie was born in St. Charles, IL in 1950.
Jeannie was a research scientist at WIL Research in Ashland for 19 years and at I.I.T.R.I. in Chicago for over 20 years. She greatly enjoyed the work collaborations and friendships that she experienced through the years.
However, it was outside of work where Jeannie truly was able to relish life. Since childhood, she derived great joy from music, gardening, attracting and feeding birds, and showering love and treats on family dogs. She played piano and organ and belonged to many choral groups. For over 15 years, she lent her strong alto voice to the Trinity UCC Choir in Wadsworth and the Akron Symphony Chorus. In addition, she enjoyed singing with the Duke University Choir, the St. Michael’s UCC Choir in West Chicago and the Elgin Symphony Chorus (IL).
Jeannie was enduringly loyal to family and friends. This was exemplified by her assistance to her parents, Rich and Cora, during their last years, including visiting her mother in a nursing home every day for almost two years. Her family includes Dan, her husband of 23 years, and daughter Jennifer; her sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Steve Parks, and their children, Robin, Martin and Paul, and grandchildren; as well as her cousins from the Chicago area and elsewhere.
Jeannie will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues. With kindness, love and humanity, she positively affected the lives of all who knew her.
Please celebrate Jeannie’s life. The family will receive family and friends 5-8 pm Friday, May 20 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 21 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 High Street, Wadsworth. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Trinity UCC Flower Fund.
