Edna Landis, a lifetime resident of Medina County, OH quietly passed away on January 31, 2021 at her current residence, the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, OH. Edna was 102 years of age and had lived independently until the age of 99.
She was born in 1918, to John R. and Melissa (Rohrer) Landis.
Siblings include two older stepbrothers, Clarence and Elias Landis, both deceased, and an older stepsister, Mary Landis, also deceased. Her family includes five nephews, Vernon and wife Elizabeth Landis, Ralph (deceased) and wife Shirley Landis, Donald (deceased) and wife Linda Landis, Raymond and wife Lana Landis (deceased) and James and wife Karen Landis. Edna also has 10 great nieces/nephews, 17 great-great nieces/nephews and 14 great-great-great nieces/nephews.
Edna was born at home in the Medina County community of Acme and raised on a farm on Seville Road. She attended Seville School when all 12 grades were in one building, graduating with the class of 1936. She retired from her career of 32 years as an LPN at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, retiring one day before her 70th birthday in September 1988.
Edna loved volunteering for her church and community and worked tirelessly for Wadsworth Meals On Wheels before retiring in her 90s. Edna was a lifetime member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, presently the Bethel Christian Church. Her favorite activities included needlework, painting with watercolor, and quilting with friends at the Seville Day Center. She has donated many beautiful quilts for the Mennonite Relief Sale in Kidron (one purchased for over $7,000). She also was known in her neighborhood as “the flower lady” for her beautiful flower garden and found much joy working in her vegetable garden.
