Obituary
Raymond Landis, 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at his home in Wadsworth, Ohio. Ray was born to Clarence and Marjorie Landis on April 5, 1943. He was raised in Seville, Ohio growing up on the family dairy farm with his four brothers. He was part of the first graduating class of Cloverleaf High School in 1961.
During the summer of 1963, Ray met the love of his life, Lana, whom he wed in 1967. Ray and Lana were then blessed with two sons, Ty and Curt, making their family complete. Ray had a long career with IBM as a service technician. He enjoyed his job, having many opportunities to travel to Colorado, California, Japan, Europe, and China.
Ray was a committed member of First Christian Church of Wadsworth. He was involved with the youth program where he taught Sunday school and helped with the “Search for the Christ Child” for many years. He was an elder and participated in many of the church’s outreach activities. He enjoyed fellowship with all the members of the church.
Ray had a lifelong passion for all things Corvette. He and Lana drove their 1958 Corvette through all lower 48 states, across Route 66 many times, up and down the west coast, and across the Trans-Canada Highway. For their 50th wedding anniversary, Ray surprised Lana with a 2017 Corvette, in which they continued their travels.
In his later years, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. In his eyes, it didn’t get any better than cheering them on at a lacrosse game or a volleyball match. Ray will be remembered for his love of family, sense of humor, and kindness towards others..
Ray is survived by his son, Ty (Brooke) Landis; brother, Vernon (Lib) Landis; brother, Jim (Karen) Landis; sister-in-law, Shirley Landis; grandchildren, Kayden and Sadie Landis; and many dear friends and neighbors.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Lana Landis; son, Curt Landis; parents, Clarence and Marjorie Landis; brother, Ralph Landis; brother, Donald Landis; and sister-in-law, Linda Landis.
