Mary C. Laughlin (Hyland) died Friday at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman at the age of 102. She was born in 1926 and grew up in Columbiana, OH. She graduated from KSU in 1924 with a teaching certificate,. She was married to Harry Clifford Laughlin for 58 years living most of their lives in Wellington, OH. Mary was a substitute teacher for years in the Wellington schools and will be fondly remembered for sharing many stories with the students from her little green book.
Mary was a member of Wellington UM Church and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star serving many years as an officer. She was an avid reader and enjoyed concerts, ballet and theatre productions.
Mary was preceded in death by husband, Clifford Laughlin in 1984. She is survived by son, Thomas of Rome, Italy, son and daughter-in-law James and Carolyn of Seville, and daughter Kay McKenzie of Wellington, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed living in Wellington and be able to take many trips on the Wellington Senior bus. Donations may be made to the Wellington Senior Center.
Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at the Firestone Cemetery in Columbiana, OH at a later date
