Josh Lyons, 23, of Wadsworth, died as a result of a motorcycle accident on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. He was born on April 14, 1991 in Barberton. He was a graduate of Wadsworth High School, class of 2009, and attended Stark State College and Akron University. He was employed as a warehouse associate at Wholesome Pet Distributors.
He met the love of his life, Jessica, when he was fifteen years old. He was blessed to have had her in his life for so many years. They were kindred spirits with an inseparable bond and he cherished her deeply.
Josh was an amazing young man and a good friend to all. He was a talented artist and poet. An avid reader with an extensive library, he always was on a quest for knowledge; many referred to him as a walking encyclopedia. He loved nature and spent many hours bird watching with Jess. They shared a passion for music and were fortunate to attend many concerts this past year. His motorcycle was one of his greatest joys because he loved the freedom of the open road. Except for his appetite for Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, he was devoted to healthy eating and his disciplined workout regimen. He was a dedicated employee and was held in high regard by his employers and co-workers. Josh was devoted to his family and constantly expressed his love to them; he never departed without a hug and the words ‘love you guys’.
Josh was more than a big brother to his sister Kelsi. He took her in his arms the moment she was born and his smile never left his face. He was her protector, teacher, role model and best friend. Blessed with Josh’s talent, she has expressed her love and devotion to him through her poetry. He will forever be her guardian angel.
Josh is survived by his loving parents, Jennifer and Todd Kollert, and Shane Lyons (Lisa Evans). He will be greatly missed by his sister, Kelsi Kollert, fiancé and soul mate Jessica Ogden, her parents Jeff and Linda Ogden and sister, Erin, grandparents David and Barbara Sabett, David and Marlean Kollert and Debbie Lyons. He is also survived by aunts, Jody Meister, Jill (Russ) Matheny, Julie (Kevin) Parsons and Kelly Lyons, uncle, Troy (Rebecca) Lyons, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Jerry Lyons and Karen Lyons.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2014, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, where a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 20 at 11 a.m., Rev. Jacqueline McMillen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in memory of Josh to Friends of Stark Parks, 5300 Tyner Street, NW, Canton, OH 44708.
