John F. Manix, 90, of Wadsworth, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born in Greenville, Ohio to the late Robert and Pauline Manix (Schlientz) on August 12, 1933. He was an active resident at The Village of St. Edward in Wadsworth. John was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Class of 1955. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force and later retired after several years of working for Motorola in sales and service. He spent his retirement years attending his beloved grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, tending to his various farm animals, traveling with his loving wife Diane, volunteering for Hospice of Medina County, cheering on Notre Dame and Cleveland sports teams, and lending a hand wherever needed at The Village. John is survived by son Jamison (Kimberly) Manix of Wadsworth; grandchildren Katy (Jane-L) Timmons of Harborview, Ohio and Austen Manix of Wadsworth; sisters Katherine (Dale) Williams of Upper Arlington, Ohio and Gretchen (Dan) Phelps of Sulphur, Oklahoma; nephew Matthew (Dawn) Williams of Frisco, Texas; niece Annie (Chris) Benson of Redondo Beach, California and daughter-in-law Lesa Hoseck of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Pauline; wife of 55 years Diane and son, Sean. The family will receive friends 5-7pm Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. A Catholic burial mass will be held at 10:30am Saturday at The Village of St. Edward, 880 Main St., Wadsworth. Interment will follow in Friendsville Cemetery, Friendsville Rd., Westfield Twp., next to his love, Diane.
