Robert A. McCrork of Wooster, formerly of Wadsworth, passed on to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital following a period of declining health. His family was at his side.
Robert was born on July 29, 1925 to Frank and Mary Margaret (Winebrenner) McCrork in Wadsworth, Ohio. He was married to Joyce (Stringfield) McCrork for 62 years. She survives along with his daughter Linda (Timothy Sr.) Hatter of Wooster, and granddaughter Rebecca (Orin) Falb of Shreve. He had 5 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his brother Frank McCrork Jr., and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his loving “granddog” Rosie who will miss him with all her heart.
Robert was a veteran of WWII where he served as a Military Policeman in the US Army. He was always proud of his military service.
Bob retired in 1986 from Conrail (formerly the Erie RR) after 42 years of service. His knowledge of the rail system and trains was extensive and he loved to talk “railroad” anytime he could find a willing listener.
He had a gift for gardening and his beautiful flowers were his pride and joy. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Willard McCrork, Jimmy McCrork, George Jenkins, Ivan Jenkins, Harold Jenkins, Ralph Jenkins, Charles Jenkins, Don Jenkins, and sister Betty McCrork (Beitzel).
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where the family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday as well as one hour prior to services from 12-1 PM Thursday. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Military honors by the Wadsworth Honor Guard.
