Brian Kenneth McGarry 44 of Norton, OH passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. Born April 13th, 1969 on Okinawa, Japan a son of Ben and Theoda (Sassy Starkey) McGarry of Cape Coral, FL. Bris, as he was known by friends and family, attended grammar school in Uhrichsville Ohio and Mickleton NJ before graduating from Wadsworth High School. He was also a graduate of the University of Akron.

Brian spent much of his professional career in Project Management and Product Engineering and was awarded patents for some of his creative designs.

When it came to sports he enjoyed them all, but hardly ever missed a Buckeye football game or Flyers hockey match. He especially enjoyed baseball and played for the Akron Cardinals in the Roy Hobbs adult league for several years. It was great fun for him to play on the same team with brothers Ben and Brent and in 2002 was voted the team’s MVP at the Roy Hobbs World Series.

Brian had a passion for music and played several instruments occasionally setting in with local bands or getting together with his friends to play. One of his other loves in life was cooking. He was a great chef and loved to prepare exceptional dishes for family and friends.

He often laughed about the great fun he had with his three nieces – riding the biggest scariest coasters with Emme (Kristin), the intellectual challenge presented by Rachel, or watching in amazement as Jenna Kate plinked cans with her BB gun – he loved every minute.

What Brian loved most in life, beyond question, were his children Nicholas and Elizabeth.

In addition to his parents, children, and nieces, Brian is survived by his Maternal Grandmother, Theoda Starkey, of New Philadelphia, brothers Ben and wife Amy of Cape Coral, FL and Brenton and wife Jessica of Lodi, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted 11am Saturday October 5 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.
Please join family and friends after the memorial service, in the celebration of Brian’s Life from 12:00 Noon -3:00PM at the Galaxy Restaurant, 201 Park Center Drive, Wadsworth.
