Joanne Megee, 91, passed away peacefully at home on January 28.
She was born and raised in Shelby, Ohio and spent many years in Painesville. It wasn’t until later in life, while living in Arizona, that she met the light of her life, Leonard Megee. They married and stayed in Phoenix for several years before relocating to Ohio to be close to family.
They settled in Wadsworth. It was a beautiful 36 year union until Leonard’s death in 2018. With the help of family and friends (including Marcia, Carol, and Dee), Joanne was able to remain in the home that she and Leonard so dearly loved. There are too many others to mention, but Ruth Darling has been a Godsend! We love you, Ruth!
The First Christian Church, where she was a member, has been so very supportive with phone calls, visits, and care packages. Pastor Sarah has been so kind, even coming to visit her to give Communion. Joanne adored her church friends, especially the Friday night card club and the after church lunch bunch at Bob Evans. Sadly, many of these friends passed away in 2020.
Meals on Wheels, with their dedicated staff and volunteers, has been an absolute life changer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gunning and his incredible staff (especially super nurse, Katie).
The final 2 weeks of Joanne’s life were made so much easier for her and the family when Ohio Living Hospice became involved with her home care. Thank you to Anthony, Kelly (social worker), nurses Tracy and Stephanie, and Chris (delivered equipment). You are all angels.
Joanne leaves behind children Dr. Tom (Donna) Cole and Vicki (Steve) Fox, and several grand- and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 stepsons and their wives and children.
She has been laid to rest beside her cherished Hubby at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
For friends wishing to keep Joanne’s memory alive, please make a much needed donation to the Medina County SPCA Animal Rescue, 8790 Guilford Rd, Seville, OH 44273.
