Jeanne E. Mezoff, 90, of Akron passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010. She was born November 24, 1920, in McKeesport, PA to the late Oscar and Rose Valoon. After graduating from high school Mrs. Mezoff became a telephone operator and was then President of her local operators’ union. Every year she would hand make counted cross stitched Christmas cards for her family and friends. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading mysteries and crafts and for many years she visited the homebound members of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Fudge” Mezoff, two brothers, Bill and Bob Valoon and one sister Gaile Collins. Mrs. Mezoff is survived by her daughters Kris (Jim) Wieter of Akron, Sandy (Jim) Welfle of Norwalk, Robin (Gary) Lancianese of Akron, her grandchildren Betsy (Keith) Dumigan of Akron, Brian Welfle of Washington, D.C. and Tricia Carrillo Gonzalez of Rocky River. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 High St., Wadsworth where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
