Eleanor (“Ellie”) Hope Moore joined heaven’s angels on March 29, 2017. She was born July 18, 1924, in Richwood, West Virginia. She resided at several developmental centers from 1938 until 1956. In 1978 her life changed dramatically for the good, when she had the opportunity to move to SHC’s Paradise Village. In 1983, she moved into one of the first truly community based homes with SHC, Farlin Nicodemus in Wadsworth, and lived there until her passing. She was beloved to many, young and old, and had been a cornerstone of SHC for the past 39 years. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends.
Ellie was an avid people watcher and loved animals, babies and kids. She enjoyed a good movie where “fussing” was a comedy focal point and adored Phil Collins and his music. She was fiercely independent and did not ask for or easily accept help from others. She never let an illness or injury slow her down or keep her from her routines. Drinking coffee leisurely, watching TV, and visiting her “family” at their home for holidays and special occasions made her days the happiest. Once you earned a place in her heart, she was connected to you forever. Ellie definitely lived her life to the fullest extent possible not wasting a single day.
A graveside service will be held 2:15 pm, Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, followed by a memorial sharing/gathering at the SHC Lodge, 4283 Paradise Road, Seville, OH 44273 beginning at 3:30pm.
