John Paul Moss, 53, of Wadsworth passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012. He was born on August 17, 1959 in Youngstown , OH . John received his Eagle Scout Award during high school and that spurred his love for the outdoors. He graduated from West Branch High School and went on to The University Akron where he received his Bachelor’s Degree of BSIM in 1984 and his Law Degree in 1987. John was a member of First Mennonite Church , Wadsworth Lions Club and served on the board at MENWA Apartments for many years. John had a love for rocks, music and riding motorcycles; his greatest love was his two children and his family. Everyone will miss his incredible sense of humor. John was a man of integrity and honesty, he never wanted things for himself; he always wanted to give to others. John could fix anything – his philosophy was if you can do it yourself, why pay someone else to do the job.
John was employed by the City of Norton as Director of Community Development, the city of Wadsworth as Auditor, a position he held for 16 years, and worked at Blossom Music Center for the past three seasons. He was a man of many interests and was very active volunteering in both Norton and Wadsworth including: Ciderfest, 3 v 3 basketball, Norton Parks,Garden State Fireworks and many others.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Moss.
John is survived by daughter Sarah, son Dan, mother Sue Moss of North Carolina , sister and brother-in-law Jerian and Billy Winn of Key West , goddaughter Lauren Winn, many aunts, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive friends 1-4 pm & 6-9 pm Monday and 10 am -2 pm Tuesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth . Funeral services will be conducted 5:30 pm Tuesday at The Chapel, 1391 State Rd. Wadsworth where friends will be received from 4-5:30pm.
