Roy H. Nickell, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 12. Roy was raised in West Virginia, served in the Army, attended West Virginia University and then moved to Akron to start his family life. He worked as a financial analyst with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 35 years, and retired to Florida.
Roy is predeceased by his wife of fifty-six years, Rachel, and his brothers Robert and Louis. He is survived by his brother Harold, his three children, Gregory (Amanda), Barbara (Steve) and William (Maryse), eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many friends.
He loved to tease and to take a big risk at cards. He was dependable, kind and generous, always thinking of ways to help others. He often said that he was lucky in life, got to do many things that he never thought he would be able to do, and would meet his death with no regrets. We are deeply blessed to have known him as father, family, or friend.
He will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio on Friday, October 25th at 1:00 PM. Calling hours will be held at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Salvation Army, Marine Toys for Tots, the Huntington Area Food Bank (West Virginia) or your local food bank.
